PSIP Aquatic, Pool
Performance Structural Integrity Protocol

The StandardThat ChangesEverything.

When concrete fails, the first question is simple: what record exists? PSIP certification is how a pool contractor keeps that record on every job. Download the free training guide. Pass the exam. Join the standard.

Why This Exists

The Industry Has a Documentation Problem.

When a job is questioned, the contractor who did it right often cannot show it. No batch tickets. No photos. No signed record. Just a handshake. PSIP exists to fix that.

⚖️
The Record Question
When a homeowner raises a concern two years after the pour, memory fades and the invoice shows only what was paid. A record made at the time shows what was done. It does not decide the claim. It puts the facts on paper.
🧪
The Material Problem
Type IL, a portland-limestone cement covered by ASTM C595, is now common across the U.S., and Class F fly ash got scarce as coal plants closed. The mix in the truck may not be the mix you knew, and many batch tickets do not list everything in the load. The PSIP record holds a photo of every ticket, and the contractor adds what he knows about the mix in the notes.
💀
Concrete Cancer Is Real
ASR, alkali-silica reaction, forms an expansive gel inside the concrete where you can't see it. It needs reactive silica, alkali and moisture. By the time it maps the surface, the damage is done.
What You'll Learn

Training Built on the Record.

The PSIP training guide covers what the PSIP record captures and what published industry documents, ACI guides and ASTM standards, describe. It is not a construction manual, and it does not tell you how to build. It teaches exactly what the exam asks.

⚠ Why the guide comes first
The exam asks what the guide teaches. Skip the guide and you are guessing at what the record holds. Read it first, then sit the exam.
01
Who Does What, and What the Certificate MeansPSIP records the work. It does not direct it. You own the codes, permits, inspections and licensing where you work. The PSIP Pour Record Certificate attests that the record exists, was captured at the time, and is complete. It is not a warranty, an inspection or a code approval.
02
The PSIP RecordThe 8 concrete stages and the 11 pool stages, the minimum every record holds, and how every photograph and batch ticket is captured. The stages are Version 1 and will change as PSIP develops.
03
ASR & Concrete CancerWhat the reaction needs, per ASTM C1778: reactive silica, alkali and moisture. Why a pool shell that never dries out is the worst place for it.
04
Type IL Cement & The Material ShiftWhat changed around 2018, what Type IL is under ASTM C595, and why the cement type on the ticket matters to the record.
05
SCM Classes Under ASTM C618Class F, Class C and Class N. Many tickets do not name the class, so the contractor adds what he knows in the notes. PSIP does not rank them or tell you which one to use. That choice belongs to the mix design.
06
Conditions & CuringPour day conditions, captured automatically at the job coordinate in App Version 1. What ACI 305, 306 and 308 describe. PSIP sets no curing method.
07
What Code Sets & The Five QuestionsACI 318 sets minimum requirements, a floor, not a target. The five questions homeowners ask any contractor, and why each one points to the record.
08
15 Practice QuestionsFifteen questions at a bar close to the real exam, 11 of 15, with the answer key and the why behind every answer.
