Every PSIP-certified pour is specified to its ACI 318 / ACI 332 exposure class before the mix is ordered. Strength target, water-cement ratio, air content, and SCM strategy are derived from the documented exposure analysis, not from a default PSI the plant always sends. PSI is one output among many, never the input. No unauthorized water addition at the job site. The exposure-class justification, mix design, and batch tickets are retained in the PSIP closeout packet.
Full rebar grid placed, chaired, and tied to maintain proper cover throughout the pour. Fiber mesh included in the mix design for plastic shrinkage control. Cover verified with photo documentation before concrete placement begins. Rebar positioned at the correct depth, not resting on the subgrade, is what provides the tensile reinforcement that lets a slab span soil movement, distribute loads, and resist freeze-thaw and ASR expansion.
Where site access allows, concrete is placed by pump to prevent mixer trucks from driving on the compacted aggregate base. On projects where direct pour is necessary, exclusion zones are documented and enforced during delivery. A properly compacted base is the platform that determines slab behavior for the life of the structure, and a loaded mixer truck destroys weeks of compaction in seconds.
The base and subgrade are pre-wetted to SSD (saturated surface dry) condition immediately before concrete placement, uniform damp appearance, no standing water, no dry patches, documented with a GPS-timestamped photograph. This prevents dry subgrade from pulling moisture out of the bottom of the slab and creating a hidden, low-strength, high-shrinkage zone.
Finishing operations timed to the bleed water cycle, not a predetermined schedule. Metal trowel finishing for surface density, broom finish for slip resistance where specified, control joints tooled or saw-cut within the correct time window. Curing compound or a documented curing method applied immediately after finishing, with a 28-day traffic restriction recorded. PSIP curing operates on two axes: climate read on the forecast and chemistry read on the batch ticket.
Every certified project closes with a signed PSIP Workmanship Certificate, a GPS-timestamped photographic record, the concrete batch tickets, Tier 1 SCM admixture lot numbers and product records, a homeowner care guide, and contractor contact information, all delivered to the homeowner or builder at completion. The packet is the permanent, timestamped, independently reviewable record that makes the work defensible to a future owner, an insurance adjuster, or a court.
